Emergency Preparedness Quick Tip #1: Shoes

Mom's Preparedness Quick Tips: Keep a sturdy pair of shoes by your bed in the case of an overnight emergency so that you don't have to walk barefoot through debris. Quick, short steps to becoming more prepared!

Preparedness Quick Tip #1: Shoes

Having to evacuate your house in the middle of the night because a tornado has just torn through your neighborhood or escape from an overnight house fire or walk through the house to defend against an intruder who has demolished your property and there is glass everywhere, are just a few of the reasons why it’s a good idea to keep a pair of shoes by your bedside.

One of our Family Preparedness Group members on Facebook even suggested making sure to keep your clothes out for easy access (over the bedpost or at the foot of your bed) for those same reasons. Imagine rushing out of the house in  only your skivvies in the middle of winter!

While we hope any emergency will follow along our well thought out plans and preparations, life rarely happens that way. Make it a priority to place a pair of shoes by your bedside to help protect your feet in case of an emergency. It’s a quick and easy thing to do and might really save your life!
