How to Bake Your Own Tortilla Chips - finding a way to make some of your favorite snacks without the grocery store

One of our favorite treats in the world is hummus, guacamole, pico de gallo or other health dips scooped up with some crispy tortilla chips. We found a way to make them ourselves using store-bought corn tortillas, but also want to be able to learn to make our own without relying on the processed foods from the stores. So check out the method to bake your own tortillas and some great recipes (from a couple of my favorite bloggers) to make your own below.

Homemade Baked Tortillas

  • 1 package corn tortillas (or make your own…scroll further down the post to see a variety of make your own tortilla recipes).

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Cut tortillas into sections (we chose sixths, you can make them smaller if you’d like)

  • Place them on a cookie sheet and spray with cooking spray lightly and bake – watch closely – your time may vary depending on tortilla, humidity and oven. It won’t take long as you can see from our example, but we like them crunchy!
  • Pull out of  the oven after they’ve browned and sprinkle lightly with sea salt (I like a finer salt because it tends to stick better)
  • Cool on a wire rack
